Maybe you have read this article on my site: Pinterest Communities Feature. If not, you can take a quick look now.
Today, I have received an email from Pinterest. This is what it says:
Heads up: Communities are becoming group boards
After testing communities and getting a lot of feedback from Pinners, we’ve decided to take the best parts of the feature and fold them into group boards. While the communities tab will be going away by the end of this week, communities will live on as group boards.
Basically Pinterest has (after 6 months) noticed that this feature is NOT good for this platform. Pinterest is NOT a social sharing platform; like Facebook or Instagram. Pinterest is a Search Engine !
This news wasn’t a surprise for me. At the end of my post, on October 11th, 2018, I wrote: “I -personally- don’t believe that this feature will become a big hit. Pinterest’s user base and their usage styles are different than FB, or IG users.”
Now, Pinterest also acknowledged that this feature doesn’t have anything to do with its own platform. For me, it wasn’t a necessary test. God knows how much money Pinterest has spent to implement this feature, and how much money they are spending to remove the feature…
Even though I am not right all the time, I love to be ‘right’ 😉
Enjoy the rest of the week everyone…
